Today, whether you walk into a grocery store, pharmacy or
health food store, you will find the aisle that is brimming
to overflowing with acne soaps, remedies, creams, oral medications
and of course the infamous acne cleanser. Every one of them
states that they are the one and only and they will be the
magic pill to alleviate all of you skin problems. If you glance
at the components in the product, you will discover that most
of them consist of exactly the same groups of ingredients
perhaps just in different percentages.
Once you wade through all the commercialism, you will find
the perfect acne cleanser to begin your anti-acne regimen.
Whether you decide to get the most popular on the market or
decide to try the all natural route, you have to begin with
a treatment which is consistent and effective.
First things first; you must get into a routine with your
regimen and usually it is in the morning and at night before
you go to bed. Consistency is a key factor. If you are able
to wash your face and apply your product more than twice a
day (and the product instructions say that’s fine) then
do it. It will only speed up the process of getting rid of
this condition.
There are 3 parts to an effective acne routine: an acne cleanser,
medication and a moisturizer. Many times, over the counter
products will package all three of them together. This is
beneficial because that will ensure that the chemicals involved
in the product, compliment each other and won’t cause
any further inflammation.
First, the role of an acne cleanser is fairly obvious; it
is there to penetrate the pores, remove oils and dirt and
bring it to the surface of the skin so you can wash it away.
Second is the medication. Because of the action of the cleanser,
this product can now work on the bacteria which are what actually
is causing your acne. Lastly, a moisturizer is applied to
keep your skin soft and smooth and help counteract the affects
of step one and two so that your face does not get overly
dried.
Remember, your acne cleanser must be affective, but also
gentle. You don’t want anything which is also a harsh
exfoliation product. That will only serve to further redden
and inflame the area which is probably already overly irritated.
And if you have acne around your eyes, you will want a cleanser
which is marked for ‘sensitive skin.’ The eye
area is one of the most delicate areas on your body, so you
want to take extra precautions when putting any treatment
on or near that area.
One last reminder; before you wash your face, wash your hands.
There are more bacteria on our hands than any other place
on our body. Use a good soap and wash for at least 30 seconds
scrubbing up to your wrists. This will ensure that no further
bacteria will be deposited on your face.
