So many adults are shocked when they wake up one day an see
eruptions beginning on areas of their bodies. They thought
that acne was just confined to the face. This is so far from
the truth, but because adult body acne looks like facial acne,
they think that perhaps it spread from there. This couldn’t
be further from the truth.
Adult body acne is mostly found on the shoulders, back and
chest. And thankfully, most of this type of acne is not as
widespread as facial acne and according to most that have
it, is easier to get rid of. Adult body acne, like its name,
only affects teens and adults.
What causes adult body acne? Again, hormones have a lot to
do with these eruptions. And many times these flare-ups coincide
with high stress levels. As with facial acne, adult body acne
is basically caused by bacteria. So it is especially important
to shower daily to ensure that you are washing off dead skin
cells, sweat and any bacteria which is proliferating. To be
on the safe side, don’t wear clothing made out of synthetic
materials and avoid shirts or pants which are tight fitting.
If you adult body acne is severe enough to go to a health
professional, they will take into consideration your weight,
when you get outbreaks and your stress levels, then they will
prescribe accordingly. Sometimes they will prescribe antibiotics
if they feel it is severe enough and the bacteria growth needs
to be halted. Sometimes a dermatologist will have topical
ointments to try initially to see how your skin responds.
This may reduce the possibility of acne
scars from the untreated acne.
To help soothe the flare-up, the following oils can help with
inflammation and redness and to just ‘make it feel better.’
1. Lavender oil
2. Olive oil
3. Calendula oil
4. Almond oil
5. Chamomile oil
Remember, adult body acne can respond quickly to solutions.
To help it along remember to shower daily and immediately
after exercising, don’t use oil based shampoos, conditioners
and makeup and wash your hair daily. Also, it doesn’t
hurt to sunbathe as much as possible (use non-oily sunscreens)
which can’t cure, but can help dry up some of those
blemishes.
With some tender loving care shown toward your body and a
trip to your local pharmacy, you can more than likely, get
your adult body acne under control. If all else fails, consult
your doctor or local dermatologist.
