If you suffer from acne, there is one question that all sufferers
ask; how do I rid acne out of my life once and for all? This
is asked over and over again and so many people never get
a straight answer.
There are tons of products all over our pharmacies, grocery
stores and the internet. Which ones work? Do I have to spend
hundreds of dollars to get a real way to rid acne?
Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide has been in existence nearly forever. This
is nothing more than a mild bleach which can be used on your
face as well as other affected areas of your body. It’s
found in most acne medications, soaps and cleansers. What
does it do? It cleans deep enough to unclog pores so that
what is causing your acne can be rinsed away. The downside
is that it can cause dryness. This can be alleviated by using
a very good oil-free moisturizer.
Antibiotics
Not all antibiotics are taken internally. Some, such as erythromycin,
stiemycin, tetracycline and clindamycin also come in topical
forms and work just as well. What is also wonderful is that
these antibiotics, when taken in oral form, can cause side
effects especially an upset stomach or vomiting. Unfortunately,
the biggest downside to antibiotic use is that many times
it will flare up within a few days of stopping the medication.
Obviously, antibiotics, whether topical or oral, control the
acne infection and not doing what you want which is to rid
acne.
Hormones
It’s been proven that hormones play a large role in
causing acne outbreaks no matter what your age. If you want
to rid acne out of your life, you need to consider this factor.
Most teenage boys and girls deal with acne because of a hormone
imbalance during puberty. Also, oral contraceptives have been
known to cause acne. Women, during PMS will have breakouts
because their hormones are at a different level than other
times during the month.
Topical Retinoids
These substances have been used and are found to be very
effective. If take for a few months at a time, they can totally
alleviate the condition and actually rid acne forever. One
of the side effects of using retinoids is nosebleeds and extremely
dry skin. Again, with a good oil-free moisturizer, that problem,
if it occurs, can be eliminated.
Unlike years ago, we can rid acne out of our lives with a
few sensible and consistent steps. Be aware of your skin type
and read all labels before using any product. Examine the
enclosed pamphlets for possible reactions and side effects.
Following the above plan should put your on the road to recovering
from this condition.
